The Care Act is a significant piece of
legislation that consolidates existing pieces of legislation,
amends others and introduces new statutory duties on the Council.
The Act reflects the Government’s intention to create a more
sustainable and integrated care system that ensures a clear pathway
for service users moving through the health and social care
systems. The Act also creates a statutory footing for existing
wellbeing and preventative measures, the provision of Information
and Guidance, adult safeguarding arrangements, and the development
of new finance mechanisms to fund care.
