Adult Learning Disability 2022 Community Offer: Update on Learning Disability Residential Services Directly Provided by Staffordshire County Council

In October 2019, Cabinet approved the continued direct provision of residential care in Lichfield; providing 15 beds for countywide use. The existing Hawthorn House facility is in a poor state of repair and does not offer the best living environment for residents or value for money for taxpayers. Investing in a new development for residential services will support the modernisation of the service and will enable greater use of technology to empower independence for residents and modern working practices for staff. The paper will update Cabinet on an options appraisal undertaken by Officers, seeking approval to proceed with the recommendation.
