Demolish our grass verges

We need our grass verges talking away and a harder surface putting down, we have no alternative other than to park on these! If we park on the road, ambulances, fire engines, bin men can’t get through and this is obviously a huge risk and a hazard! 70% of the estate has drives when they were all rebuilt and hard surface parking outside there property, we don’t. We have a very wide grass verge and a skinny footpath! During the winter and wet months this because such a mess, they were in such a state I left my car on the road and within hours it was written off due to cars not being able to get through! Recently we have had the left side of the estate tarmac and the right side is due to be done, this is the perfect opportunity to resolve the parking problems, the mess the verges are in!

We have many pedestrians and children on the estate, and the mess the verges get in are dangerous as the footpath does get muddy but as stated above we have no alternative parking!

This is not the whole estate as also stated 70% have drive ways and hard standing parking outside the property it’s us unlucky tenants at the top who struggle daily!

Council response

Thank you for your petition.

Firstly I would say that it is fully understandable to me why you would have aspirations regarding the maintenance of your local road network and I appreciate the time you have taken to contact the Council with your concerns.

The Council receive a large amount of feedback from communities in relation to parking issues. These concerns are particularly prevalent around school parking during drop off and collection times or where non-residents are using streets to park whilst they access facilities such as nearby shops or public transport links.

Unfortunately with the information you have provided The Council is unable to identify a location to investigate this matter. If you remain concerned over any localised individual road safety issues these can be reported using the 'Report it' pages on our website at http://www.staffordshire.gov.uk or by using the My Staffs App.
