The Committee received a presentation by the Case Officer on the proposed application for the wining and working of sand and gravel with restoration to agriculture, water-based recreation and nature conservation, with the continued use of existing access, site offices, processing plant, silt lagoons and ancillary infrastructure.

 

The Committee were advised that the Environment Agency had withdrawn their objection relating to the application.

 

In accordance with the County Council’s scheme for public speaking at meeting, the Committee received representations from Mr D Brookes representing Uttoxeter Rural Parish Council and Mr J Davis representing the applicant.

 

Councillor P Atkins OBE, as Local Member, agreed that the Section 106 Legal agreement previously required in connection with the 2016 Planning Permission (ref. ES.16/15/524 MW) should be completed. Councillor Atkins emphasised the need for a multi-function sports facility on that part of the site allocated as a Sports Hub.

 

Following a vote it was:

 

Resolved – To permit the proposed development for the northern extension to Uttoxeter Quarry for the winning and working of sand and gravel with restoration to agriculture, water-based recreation, and nature conservation, with the continued use of existing access, site offices, processing plant, silt lagoons and ancillary infrastructure subject to the terms indicated in the report.
