Decision:

To publish and consult on the Statutory Proposal and, if there are no substantive objections, to determine the proposal for implementation on 28th February 2023. This would enable the school to convert to Academy status on 1st March 2023.

Alternative options considered:

Bhylls Acre Primary School currently has an age range of 4 – 11 years. The school also operates a governor run nursery for 3 and 4 year olds.
The school wishes to change its age range to become a 3 – 11 primary school, in advance of converting to academy status on or after 1 March 2023. The academy conversion process requires that, for the school to continue to provide nursery places, this age range change must be made in advance of the conversion.
The age range change is required by the Department for Education for technical reasons to allow Bhylls Acre to continue to operate its existing nursery provision upon conversion to an academy.
