Purpose:

Since July 2021 there has been a growing deficit between demand and supply of home care as demand has risen and the market has faced increasing difficulty recruiting and retaining staff. This is contributing to delayed discharges from hospital. The NHS has funding available to address winter pressures and intends to fund a range of services. The NHS wishes to make a contribution of £2.5m to support home care by funding staff retention schemes. The Council will pass this on to contracted providers.
