The County Council is required to produce a
Statement of Community Involvement and to ensure that it is
reviewed at least every 5 years. The document sets out how we will
consult when preparing our Minerals and Waste Local Plans and when
determining planning applications. The current SCI was adopted in
2014, so a review is now due. Planning Committee will be advised of
the emerging new SCI on 6 June, and thereafter it will be available
for public consultation for a statutory period of 6 weeks. However,
as a planning document, formal adoption must be resolved through
Cabinet.

“The county council is committed to giving everyone the best opportunity to comment on planning decisions that might affect them. The Revised Statement of Community Involvement which we are adopting today updates the standards that we work to when we consult on planning matters.
It explains how people can have their say about our Minerals and Waste Local Plans, as well as planning applications for quarries, waste sites, roads and schools.”
