i54 Western Extension Contract Award

The i54 Western Extension is a £38.5m project that is jointly funded by Staffordshire County Council and Wolverhampton City Council through a Joint Venture Agreement (JV).

The decision required is to award a c. £3.5m project to Amey to construct a 0.9km length of new Highway that will provide access to the development plot.

The construction of the development plateaus and associated works will be the subject of a further procurement decision.

The i54 Western extension scheme has been consulted on via the planning process. The Planning application (ref 18/00637/OUT) was submitted to South Staffordshire District Council on 31st July 2018 and was granted outline planning permission on 6th March 2019. The outline application covers up to 100,000m2 of employment development (uses classes B1b, B1c and B2) together with the creation of highway access to the i54 site.
