Full Council - It was Full Council on Thursday and you can check out the proceedings via the County's Webcast page via the County Web Site. Council was presenting the Strategic Plan/Vision for the authority of the new administration and was well received and supported. It has been a great achievement for the Conservative Administration to really take the lead in the changing the counties direction after 28 years of Labour Control and moving the authority forward for the benefit of Staffordshire. The Council were also presented with the Meduim Term Financial Strategy which I presented to Cabinet and commented on in Full Council particulary how robust the scrutiny was on the budget and thanking the work of the Officers involved. I recognised that the work of my committee will get tougher as budgets get tighter but the administration were able to present a budget that was not only good and balanced but delivered on key manifesto pledges such as 1.9% council tax increase below 2% as promised.
Planning - I had the pleasure of going to the County's planning meeting with residents from Tinkers Green Road in Wilnecote with concerns over the design of the building as it overlooks their properties it was great to be involved and the planning committee agreed with residents concerns and the county have been working very closely with our residents on the plans and will do in the future, showing the Conservatives approach to listening to our communities.
Community - In the local community we have had the annual food colletion for the elderly run by the Friends of Wilnecote Litter Pickers and I am 2 donated food hampers presenting this year to Cheatle Court in Dosthill.
