351 Getting going

Posted by Ivan Jennings on Tuesday, 16th March, 2010 at 12.34 pm

Recently I have been involved in a number of schemes that are just now, thanks to the hard work of all those involved, about to get going.

The first is the "Fun Day" at Burton Manor on 8th April. This has been a long time in the planning and Anna and Ross have been working very hard to make everything come together, which it now has and it is looking to be an amazing event..... so please drop in to see and take part in the activities that are being put on.

I have also had the Stafford West Divisional Budget meeting the other day and so have been able to prioritise the extra work that will be taking place in the next year to try and continue to fix the mess that the roads etc are in. A full list of these works will be posted on the website in due course.

The Highfields Farm Residents Group have had their site visit and things are really picking up there with the meeting last night being very positive with the plans that they have for the different projects that they are looking at.

After a site visit with PCSO's, The Residents Association Chairman and officers at Burton Square funding has been found to sort out a gating order to help towards combating ASB.

I think we now have built the foundations to really move forward with what we would like to do in the area.

340 Ongoing work

In addition to the committees and outside bodies, which obviously come with a pretty constant work load I am also currently working on the following projects:

Parking at Milton Grove with HERaTAGE – we had a site visit with SARH on the 9th Feb and things are looking promising with all groups hopefull that we can move this project forward.

Manor Action Day – I am actively working with SARH, the police and other partners towards the next Manor Action Day (Respect Day) and we are currently putting in place plans to make it bigger and better this year, hopefully providing something for all of the community.

Highfields Farm Residents Association – I have had a number of meetings with this group and will be attending a further meeting with them this afternoon to discuss the direction to take towards a more long term solution to the land at the rear of Norfolk Way and Matthews Road.

339 Thank you!

I would like to express my thanks to those people who were involved in my nomination as new councillor of the year 2010. It was indeed a great honour to be nominated and even more so to be shortlisted for this national award.
