Decision – That the oral report of the Leader of the Council giving an update on a range of issues including the ongoing work to ensure that Staffordshire is ready for life after the Country’s withdrawal from the European Union; the continuation of our lobbying of Government on the pressing issues affecting our communities; progress on the development of the Council’s budget for 2019-20 and the medium term; the unveiling of a new 10-year plan for the NHS; the ongoing work in Staffordshiere to create the right conditions for the economy to grow and create more, better paid jobs; and the granting of planning permission to extend the hugely successful i54 South Staffordshire; be noted.

The way we support people in the future needs to be about ability, not disability, about focussing on what people can do and building on these strengths so that they can live full and independent lives for as long as possible.”

Reasons for the Decision – To consider the Staffordshire’s Adult Learning Disability Community Offer 2022, the purpose of which is to establish the assessed eligible care and support needs and outcomes of adults with a learning disability and ensure that there are appropriate and sustainable services across the county to meet them.

 

Decision – (a) That the proposed options for Day Opportunities for Adults with a Learning Disability and/or Autism be noted.

 

(b) That the comments and recommendations made by the Healthy Select Committee on 3December 2018 be noted.

 

(c) That proportionate further engagement with key stakeholders be commenced.

 

(d) That the outcome of the engagement and recommendations for the future of Day Opportunities for Adults with a Learning Disability and/or Autism be considered by Cabinet at its meeting in April 2019.

“The right foundation of learning and skills is important for our young people to access good jobs and live healthier, happier and independent lives. With the new housing proposed in the north of Tamworth, we need to plan ahead and accommodate the expected rise in demand for secondary school places in this area.

 

The Rawlett School – An AET Academy is rated ‘Good’ by OFSTED, and the governing body are keen to embrace expansion so that future pupils can benefit from the valuable education offered by the school.  By putting plans in place now, we can ensure there are enough school places available to cope with increased demand and still offer parents and pupils a choice in the education they receive.

Reasons for the Decision – In response to new housing being built in the catchment area of the Academy, it is proposed to increase capacity at The Rawlett School.

 

Decision – (a) That the commencement of the proposal to increase capacity at The Rawlett School – An AET Academy, be approved.

 

(b) That the utilisation of the allocated Section 106 developer contributions (received and secured) to deliver the proposal to increase capacity at The Rawlett School – An AET Academy, be approved.
